Traditionally, offerings (called deipnon) were simple, often left at crossroads:
Common offerings:
Food: eggs, garlic, onions, bread, cakes, fish
Honey or wine
Incense (especially myrrh or similar resins)
Dark foods (symbolic of night/underworld)
Keys or small symbolic objects (representing access, transitions)
Candles or torches (very fitting for her torch-bearer aspect)
Modern practitioners sometimes also offer:
Black candles
Crystals (like obsidian)
Written intentions or prayers
When to give offerings-
The most traditional time is:
The Dark Moon (New Moon night)
This is called Hecate’s Deipnon, a monthly offering tied to cleansing, endings, and protection.
Other meaningful times:
At night, especially late night
At personal “crossroads” moments (big decisions, life changes)
During times of spiritual work or reflection
Offerings aren’t about “appeasing” her—they’re about connection and alignment.
People give offerings to:
Ask for guidance during uncertainty
Seek protection (especially spiritual/emotional)
Honor transitions or endings
